Faauila Selu Enesi
Faauila Selu Enesi, 71, of The Dalles, died at the local hospital on Feb. 18, 2008, with her family by her side.
She was born Feb. 6, 1937, the fifth of 10 sisters and brothers on the island of Tutuila, American Samoa. Her father was Misi Melei of Taputimu and her mother was Aofia Poumele Pese of Ta’u, Manu’a, American Samoa.
She loved farming and gardening and going to the market to sell the fruits of her labor. She worked a few jobs in Samoa before she moved her family to San Francisco in 1976, lived there for 12 years before she moved to The Dalles in 1988, now her final resting place.
She was a devoted member of her church, The Dalles Seventh-day Adventist.
She is survived by her sons, Lei, Peni, Enesi and Olioli; her daughters Puavao Faaiu, Salome King, Aofia Herring; brother Situe Melei; sisters Tupu Faapipii and Saline Sitaietasi, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Selu Enesi, her daughters Sasa Toaiva and Saline Pasi, her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
A memorial and celebration of her life will be held Sunday, Feb. 24, at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m., at the same location, with burial to follow at the IOOF 18th Street cemetery in The Dalles.
