Henrietta May Greiner
Henrietta May Greiner, 82, a longtime resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1925 in Cle Elum, Wash., the first of two children to Henry and Lula (Vader) Gardipee. She moved to The Dalles as a young girl, and has lived here ever since. During the early 1940s, she met and fell in love with Robert Greiner, and they were married on March 14, 1942. They were happily married until his passing in 1999.
Over the course of her career, she was a bookkeeper for many years, then a retail clerk for many years as well. She was devoted to the St. Peter Christian Church. She had many hobbies such as fishing, dancing, traveling, bingo, and she loved puzzle books. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge for many years as well.
She is survived by her son, Robert Greiner and wife Jeannie, Lewiston, Idaho; daughter, Cheryl and husband Ken Hinkley, The Dalles; brother, Leslie Gardipee and wife Clara, The Dalles; grandchildren, Curt and wife Wendy McConnell, Kelly and husband Mathew Stacy, Vonda and husband Tony Teitenberg, Shadley and wife Julie Turner, Misty Greiner, Charles Benedict, Eric Tobias, Jesse Ruggles, Roseanna Ruggles, Robin and husband Matt Worland, Richard Giard, Jared Greiner, daughter-in-law, Diana Greiner, and her children Richard, Mike and Jeff, several great grandchildren, and multiple great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lula, husband, Robert, Son, Michael, daughters, Deborah, Vicky and Cindy.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 28, at 11 a.m. with graveside services immediately following. Any memorial contributions can be made out to the St. Peter Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care of Spencer, Libby and Powell.
