Amos Allan Wells
Amos Allan Wells, 81, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010.
He was born in Sunnyside, Wash., on Feb. 12, 1928, to Vere H. and Zona L. (Mock) Wells. He served in World War II on PT Boats for the Army Air Corps.
He married Viola Watkins in Stevenson on Feb. 10, 1948. Throughout his life, he worked as a cab driver, bus driver, truck driver, school bus driver and photographer. His hobbies included raising and racing pigeons, bee keeper, photography and ham radio.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Viola Wells; his four children, Ken Wells and wife Theresa, Portland; Janis White and husband Alfred, Rufus; Linda Saling and husband George, The Dalles; and Candice Patchett, The Dalles; his grandchildren, Nolan Wells, Maija Wells, Michael White and wife April, Krystal Thompson and husband Louis, Toni Proffitt and husband John, Larry Saling and wife Priscilla, Bobbi Denley and Billie Denley; 12 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Erma Gonzales of Anchorage, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vere and Zona Wells, his sisters, Violet Newell and Mildred Dietz and his brother, Cecil Wells.
Viewing will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home with committal to follow at Wasco Sunrise Cemetery.
