Donald “Don” L. Anderson
Donald “Don” L. Anderson, 76, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.
He was born in Sweet Home on Sept. 7, 1933, the youngest of five children to Albert and Bessie G. Anderson. He grew up in Sweet Home, where he graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne.
He married Carolyn Sue Hall in York, S.C., on Dec. 17, 1955. He worked as an air traffic controller in Bozeman, Mont., and The Dalles until his retirement. He has resided in The Dalles since 1960, was a member of Covenant Christian Church, and enjoyed flying, motorcycle riding, fishing and spending time with his granddaughter Ellie.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Anderson, The Dalles; his sons, Charles K. Anderson, The Dalles; and Ed H. Anderson and wife Amanda, Eugene; his granddaughter, Elisabeth “Ellie” Anderson, Eugene; his sister, Dorothy Owens of Everett, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents and three siblings.
Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with arrangements under the care of Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at Covenant Christian Church 2610 E 18th St. with Pastor Brett Hartley officiating.
