Columbia Gorge Community College celebrates the completion of the health and science building at its The Dalles campus with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony and entertainment Thursday, Sept. 11.
The event will feature music, food and tours of the new building. Guest speakers will be Rep. John Huffman and Wasco County Judge Dan Ericksen. The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will conduct the ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by college and community representatives.
The event features building tours starting at 6:15 p.m. and concluding at 7:30 p.m., conducted by college staff.
The health and science building incorporates student services and information technology, as well as additional classroom and lab space, comprising 35,000 square feet.
The building serves as the college’s new “gateway” facility, opening onto a new 2,000-person capacity outdoor amphitheatre.
This project, as well as the Indian Creek Campus in Hood River, was made possible by voter approval of an $18.5 million bond measure in 2004, combined with $7.5 million in state funding approved by the Oregon Legislature in 2005.
Entertainment in The Dalles will be provided by The Dalles-Wahtonka High School’s jazz band, with food by Class Act Catering.
