‘Line’ tour comes to Mid-Columbia
The faith of Oregon’s native and pioneer forebears is the subject of the Line in the Sand Tour “ROAR,” (Reviving Oregon’s Amazing Roots), coming to The Dalles Monday as part of Oregon’s 150th anniversary of statehood.
“How can we ignore our heroic pioneers of faith?” the event asks, as well as “What now?” and “Where do we go from here?”
Public events are scheduled at 11:45 a.m. and the Wasco County Courthouse, and at 7 p.m. at Life in Christ Center. The tour will also be in Sherman County on Wednesday, June 10, at noon at the Sherman County Courthouse in Moro and at The Depot in Wasco at 7 p.m.
Among the topics of discussion are:
• The four Nez Perce chiefs’ 1831 quest for “the book of heaven,”
• The role of Jason Lee and Jedidiah Smith,
• The “Macedonia Call of the West” 1834,
• Legendary Joe Meek — “Who’s for a divide?”
• “Oregon’s organic laws” — Champoeg 1843,
• The circuit rider statue — 1924 dedication,
• The centerpiece and moral compass of righteousness.
A declaration of Oregon’s ministers and statesmen will be presented by ROAR Ministries’ Aaron Auer and John Sutton.
