K9 cops net pot in Sherman County
A Duluth, Minn., resident is being charged in Sherman County following an Aug. 21 evening traffic stop that yielded roughly four pounds of marijuana.
On Friday evening at about 7:15 p.m. Sherman County K9 Deputy Brian Hulke stopped a 2006 Ford Mustang with two occupants for speeding on Highway 97 in Grass Valley. Upon contact, the driver identified himself as Tommy Jacobson, 22, from Duluth.
During the traffic stop Hulke, along with his K9 “Benny,” searched the Mustang. They allegedly discovered about four pounds of marijuana in sealed bags in the trunk. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $20,000.
“The Sheriff’s Office is very committed to working on the drug trafficking problem that is occurring on our highways each and every day,” said Sherman County Sheriff Brad Lohrey in a press release Wednesday.
Jacobson was indicted by the Sherman County Grand Jury and is scheduled to appear in Sherman County Circuit Court on charges of unlawful delivery of
marijuana – substantial quantity and possession of marijuana –substantial quantity. The passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
