Hood River law enforcement officers are asking for public help to find a fugitive wanted in four states.
“We have gotten reports that Jack Christopher Glenn is still in town and we want him off the streets,” said Sheriff Detective Gerry Tiffany.
“Anytime an officer attempts a traffic stop involving Mr. Glenn, there is a pursuit and somebody is going to get hurt.” Glenn, 35, was last known to be residing at a family member’s house on York Hill Road in Hood River, according to Tiffany.
He also has relatives in Odell and Tiffany said if Glenn’s friends and family — who all deny knowing his whereabouts — are helping him evade an arrest then they could also be subject to prosecution.
“It is illegal to obstruct justice by protecting someone who has broken the law,” said Tiffany.
He decided to ask county residents for help in locating Glenn after the latest warrant involving the man was issued last week. Glenn is wanted for allegedly smashing into the vehicle of a York Hill woman who was backing out of her driveway and then leaving the scene.
In late October, the Hood River City Police Department sought a warrant against Glenn for fleeing on foot from a traffic stop.
According to reports, Officer Jim Hart had pulled Glenn over along Belmont Avenue when he was approached by the brother of the subject. That individual allegedly pulled up at the scene and got out of his vehicle with a screwdriver in hand.
While Hart was conversing with the brother, Glenn reportedly took off across a nearby lot.
Tiffany said Glenn is wanted in Wasco County for probation violations related to a hit and run and elude incident. He is also the subject of an outstanding warrant from Washington State for probation violations tied to an assault case.
In Florida, Glenn is wanted for probation violations that involve burglary, theft and other property crimes. He also has warrants pending in North Carolina for burglary charges, said Tiffany.
In 1998, Glenn’s vehicle reportedly snagged a Wasco County deputy and dragged him down the street during an attempted traffic stop. The deputy sustained only minor injuries in the incident.
Several years later, Glenn allegedly tried to run down a law enforcement official in Hood River and former Chief Deputy Dwayne Troxel shot at his tires to force a vehicle stop.
Tiffany said Glenn, because of his criminal history, should be considered dangerous and anyone who sees him in the area should immediately call 9-1-1.
He said people with information about Glenn’s whereabouts can call the confidential sheriff tip line at 387-7077.
