Kitzhaber posts energy plan

— SALEM (AP) — Gov. John Kitzhaber has released a final draft of his plan to wean Oregon off fossil fuels and increase the use of renewable energy.

The governor’s energy goals for the next 10 years haven’t changed since he released a draft of the plan in June. Kitzhaber wants to use energy efficiency and conservation methods to meet 100 percent of new electric load growth and to make it easier for clean-energy developers to get financial backing and permits for new projects. He also wants to speed up the adoption of more efficient vehicles.

Kitzhaber says the plan would make Oregon more competitive economically.
