Letter to the Editor: Followers of God

— Followers of God

To the editor:

I found a book on Muslims and their religion Islam. Very interesting how their religion follows so many others. Allah means God in their language, and Islam means submission to God. Mohammed respected the Jewish and Christian worship of God. Indeed any true follower of God.

They don’t believe in graven images.

The Bibical prophets from Abraham to Christ are honored by Islam.

The messages of Jesus are respected, but their prophet is Mohammed, whose messages came from Allah (Muslim for God). They do not believe in the Trinity.

The true believer must honor his parents, help the poor, protect orphans, be honorable and just in all dealings, avoid strong drink, pork and gambling and be humble before Allah.

Women are to be treated with honor, protection and respect. They are to man as man is to God.

They believe in heaven and hell for the same reasons most religions do.

A share of each believer’s income should be given for the support of the mosque and the care of the poor.

“And women have rights similar to those of men over them in kindness”

“What is the greater struggle, O Messenger of God?” He replied, “The struggle within.”
