The Dalles Chenowith Water PUD will be flushing hydrants beginning Monday, April 15, and continue for the next few weeks. The process helps keep lines flushed and free of sediments and mineral deposits. It also verifies property hydrant operations and allows workers to document fire flows. The district flushes hydrants twice a year to maintain water quality and meet fire insurance requirements.
The public is asked to avoid walking or driving through the water. If that is not possible, they are asked to proceed with caution.
Chenowith water users may see incidences of discolored water and fine sediment particles as the hydrants are flushed. The district recommends letting your outside water faucet flush for a couple of minutes or until the water runs clear. Don’t use hot water until the flow is clear.
