Weekend Fishing Opportunities:

Spring chinook fishing is open above Bonneville Dam.

Walleye anglers are having some success in The Dalles and John Day pools.

A handful of legal white sturgeon are being caught in the Portland area. Effective April 1, the annual sturgeon bag limit is two legal white sturgeon.

Salmon, Steelhead and Shad:

Bank anglers are beginning to catch a few spring chinook in The Dalles pool. As of Sunday April 14, 1,672 spring chinook have passed over Bonneville Dam.

Bonneville Pool:

No report.

The Dalles Pool:

Weekly checking showed four adipose fin-clipped spring chinook kept, plus one unclipped spring Chinook released for 53 bank anglers.

John Day Pool (Columbia River above John Day Dam and John Day Arm):

Weekly checking showed no catch for seven bank anglers; and no catch for two boats (two anglers).

STURGEON:

Boat anglers are catching a few keepers in the Portland area. On Saturday’s (4/13) flight, 46 sturgeon boats and 16 Oregon bank anglers were counted.

Gorge Bank:

No report.

Gorge Boats:

No report.

Troutdale Bank:

No report.

Troutdale Boats:

Weekly checking showed no catch for two boats (five anglers).

Portland to Westport Bank:

No report.

Portland to Longview Boats:

Weekend checking showed five legal white sturgeon kept, plus 140 sublegal sturgeon released for 37 boats (109 anglers).

The Dalles Pool:

Weekly checking showed one oversize and 13 sublegal sturgeon released for 20 bank anglers; and one sublegal sturgeon released for one boat (four anglers).

John Day Pool:

Weekly checking showed three sublegal sturgeon released for 20 bank anglers; and 15 sublegal sturgeon released for 17 boats (32 anglers).
