The ninth annual Cherry of a Ride, a fundraising bike ride sponsored by St. Mary’s Academy, is set for Sunday, April 21, with five route distances to choose from.
The ride starts from St. Mary’s, at the corner of 10th and Cherry Heights, between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. There are routes of 30 miles, 48 miles, 60 miles, 80 miles and the 100-mile ride.
The weather for Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy, with a high temperature of 65 degrees, a 20 percent chance of rain, and northwest winds of 13 mph.
The rides offer spectacular gorge views and meander through blossoming cherry orchards and green wheat fields of rural Wasco County. The three longer rides all offer a view of the gorge that you can not see from the freeway.
The fully supported ride has rest stops, with food and restrooms approximately every 20 miles. All routes will close at 5 p.m.
Riders will be treated to an abundance of food at rest stops, and fresh cherry cobbler made by St. Mary’s parents at the end of the ride.
Pre-registration for the ride is $45 without a t-shirt and $55 with a t-shirt. Day of ride registration is $55 with no t-shirts available.
Event sponsors include St. Mary’s and Gorge Delights JustFruit pure fruit snack bars.
To register, call the school at 541-296-6004 or email email@example.com.
