Foss Maritime sells Columbia River business to Tidewatger Barge Lines

PORTLAND (AP) — Foss Maritime says it’s selling its Columbia River business to Tidewater Barge Lines and laying off 60 workers.

Seattle-based Foss declined to elaborate on Monday’s state workforce notice.

The Oregonian reports the move will leave two main tugboat companies on the Columbia. Tidewater moves grain along the Columbia-Snake river system. Shaver Transportation also moves grain barges.
