Fires

Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue

April 23, 9:48 p.m.— Personnel responded to the 300 block of Union St. on a report of a small Mazda pickup truck on fire. Upon arrival the fire had been put out by a fire extinguisher. The owner stated the pickup died, smoke began coming out from under the hood and when he opened the hood there was a fire in the engine compartment.

April 23, 9:51 p.m. — Personnel responded to the 2500 block of E 10th St. on report of a garage fire. Upon arrival the fire had been put out by a garden hose but smoke was still showing. The fire had burned some boxes, the table saw area, floor, wall and door. Investigators were unable to immediately determine the exact cause of the fire, which seemed to have started where boxes were sitting.

Personnel also responded to six calls for emergency medical assistance on Tuesday.

Police Reports

City of The Dalles

Police responded to the 300 block of E 12th St. Tuesday morning on a report of two dogs fighting aggressively. The owner surrendered one of the dogs.

A caller from the 2900 block of East 2nd Street reported Tuesday morning that a garden hose had been cut and dragged over to their truck as if to siphon gas but no gas had been taken.

Police responded to a report of a hit and run in the 1000 block of Pomona St. Tuesday morning.

Police responded to the 3300 block of West 7th Street. Tuesday afternoon on a report that a man had hit his girlfriend in the face before the subjects separated. The suspect was later located and both parties said they were just wrestling and it was a misunderstanding.

A caller from the 100 block of West 11th Street reported Tuesday afternoon that teenagers were writing vulgar things on the street with chalk and were disrespectful when confronted.

A hit and run report was taken Tuesday afternoon from the 500 block of Mt. Hood St.

Police responded to the 600 block of East 3rd Street Tuesday evening on a report of a woman hitting a man. Elizabeth Virginia LaBonte, 22, 409 E. 8th St., was jailed on one count of second-degree disorderly conduct.

Police responded to the 3500 block of West 6th Street on a report of a stolen bicycle.

Police took a report of a restraining order violation in the 900 block of Federal Street Tuesday evening after a man reported his wife had texted him.

Police responded to the 500 block of Mt. Hood Street Tuesday evening on report of a customer consuming groceries in the store and also leaving with items not purchased. Kimberly Kaye Hawkins, 36, 1219 E 12th St., was arrested at the scene on a circuit court commitment for first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree theft.

Police responded to the 3100 block of West 10th Street Tuesday evening after a mother reported her daughter was refusing to leave her friend’s house come home. Subjects were advised to wait to talk about the issue until morning.

Police took a report of burglary from the 2300 block of East 13th Street Tuesday evening after a caller reported they had returned home to find their house broken into and their crawl space open.

Police responded to 2900 Old Dufur Road on a report that the subject of a restraining order had texted the other part nine minutes after the restraining order had been served.

Police responded to the 3800 block of West 6th Street Tuesday evening on a report of loud intoxicated subjects. Subjects were counseled.

A minor male was cited and released to his mother in the 900 block of Court St. early Wednesday morning for curfew violation and minor in possession of tobacco.

Police responded to the 2800 block of West 7th Street early Wednesday morning on a report that a man had made sexual comments to the caller and then kept ringing her doorbell and knocking on her door after she went inside. Police counseled the suspect, who was intoxicated and said he was trying to contact a neighbor to play games.

Wasco County

Jennifer Helseth was arrested Tuesday morning on a warrant and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and third-degree escape.

Deputies responded to a report of a horse running down Sevenmile Rd. early Wednesday morning.

Oregon State Police

A male driver was cited for driving while suspended during a traffic stop Tuesday morning on Interstate 84 near milepost 92.

A marijuana pipe with a small amount of residue was seized during a vehicle search Tuesday evening on Interstate 84, milepost 110.

Regional Jail

Kimberly Kaye Hawkins, 36, 1219 E 12th St., was jailed Tuesday evening on a circuit court commitment for first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree theft.

Sandra Sindy Campos, 33, 322 W 6th St., was jailed on a warrant Tuesday evening for third-degree robbery, second-degree theft, second-degree criminal mischief, harassment and recklessly endangering.

Martin Fernandez Lopez, 28, Mesa, Wash., was jailed Wednesday morning as a fugitive from another state and a fugitive from ICE.

Elizabeth Virginia LaBonte, 22, 409 E 8th St., was jailed Tuesday evening on one count of second-degree disorderly conduct.

Jessica Rae Widner, 26, 527 W 3rd Place, was arrested Tuesday evening for failure to appear.

Randi Leann Fredericks, 53, 862 Hostetler St., was jailed Tuesday afternoon on a circuit court commitment for probation violation.

Ashlee Renae Klaviter, 26, 1106 Emerson Dr. No. 2, was booked and released Tuesday afternoon on two counts of third-degree theft.

Victoria Suzzanne Vasquez, 32, 804 E 13th St., was jailed Tuesday afternoon on a circuit court commitment on one count of failure to register as a sex offender.

Carlos Michael Holeman, 27, 706 W 8th St., was jailed Tuesday morning on a circuit court commitment for probation violation.

Donald Scott Davis, 34, Buhl, Idaho, was jailed Tuesday morning on a Sherman County circuit court commitment for failure to register as a sex offender and probation violation.

Jason Jay Begay, 22, 1 Celilo Village Rd., was booked and released Tuesday morning on one count of giving false information to a police officer.

Jennifer Lynn Helseth, 34, 608 E 18th, was jailed on a circuit court commitment Tuesday morning for four counts of probation violation, resisting arrest, third-degree escape and second-degree disorderly conduct.

Bryson Michael Schacher, 21, 1120 Pine St. W, was booked and released Tuesday morning for furnishing alcohol to a minor.
