The local Daughters of the American Revolution Celilo Chapter hosted State Regent Ellen Hopkins for a reception and tea party April 17 at the Adult Center in Hood River.
The Celilo Chapter was formed by a group of women in The Dalles many years ago and includes women from The Dalles, Hood River, Grass Valley, Parkdale, Tygh Valley, Moro and other areas of the Columbia Gorge.
Officers came from all over Oregon to honor Hopkins, wearing fascinator hats and long dresses. Many of the women baked cupcakes, made fruit kabobs, tacos, chips and dips, breads, served tea and waited on those attending.
Hopkins was installed as DAR state regent in 2012 and 25 Celilo Chapter women flew to Washington D.C. for the event at the women’s DAR Constitution Hall.
