Church news in brief, Aug. 9

LDS Church

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is seeking volunteers for a community day of service at Mosier School Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Projects include cleaning (inside school and around grounds), organizing and painting. Those who want to help can check in at the garage behind the school on service day.

First United Methodist Church

The First United Methodist Preschool is hosting an open house at the church on Aug. 21 for 3 to 7 p.m. The preschool has openings in both the 3- and 4-year-old classes. For more information, call 541-298-1008.

Dufur Christian Church

The final day of the Dufur Christian Church rummage sale is Saturday, Aug. 10. It is a fundraiser for a mission. The sale is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Gateway Presbyterian

Gateway has an 8:30 a.m. traditional service and an 11 a.m. contemporary service. Guest speaker is Pastor Peter Santucci from Bend. Adult, child and youth Sunday classes are from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Aug. 11 is the all-church picnic. Fried chicken and drinks will be provided. Last names: A-G bring salads, H-N bring sides, O-Z bring desserts.

Wednesday programs are at 6 p.m., including youth group, and women’s Bible study.

Every Thursday at 10 a.m. is a Play Day at Gateway. It includes a secure, safe place on the playground to come have kids play while their moms enjoy coffee and conversation.
