A summer full of fun at the Wasco Co. Fair

Endless Summer is the theme of this year’s Wasco County Fair, Aug. 15 to Aug. 18 at the fairgrounds in Tygh Valley.

There’s no excuse for boredom at the fair, with everything from a carnival midway, food and rides to two nights of rodeo, dances, baking and barbecue contests, along with fun and games for kids and adults alike. Enjoy a stroll through the 4-H barns to see what Wasco County young people are exhibiting, or check out the open class exhibits in backing, textiles, animal husbandry and much more.

Free Family Fun Day Thursday means no admission at the gates and senior citizens can enjoy the free senior picnic in the park. Thursday is also Kids Day with lots of fun activities to enjoy and a teen dance in the evening.

Friday brings the Best Looking Horse in Wasco County Contest, a new event that compares all breeds of geldings and mares.

Friday and Saturday also have rodeo fun, including Native American and wild horse racing, followed by live music both nights to dance to from 9 a.m. to midnight.

Admission Friday through Sunday for ages 12 and older is $6 daily or a season pass for $15, admission for ages 6 to 12 is $4 daily or $9 for a season pass. Children under 6 are free.
