TWO WESTBOUND commercial trucks were driving westbound side-by-side at about 4:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, when the truck in the left lane drifted into the right lane resulting in the collision, according to state police. The truck’s driver lost control and the truck veered into the center divider, coming to rest on top of the divider, blocking both westbound lands and the left eastbound lane for several hours. No one was injured in the wreck. The photo at left was submitted by Shelby Lee Gilman, 10, making it eligible for The Dalles Chronicle summer youth photo contest. Accidents

The Dalles City

August 26, 12:45 p.m. – Two vehicle, non-injury crash, 400 block of Cherry Heights. Officer assisted with the exchange of information, no report taken.

Wasco County

August 25, 1:05 p.m. – Single vehicle, injury accident, Forest Service Road 48. Driver information was not available. Motorcycle driver lost control of his motorcycle going at a high rate of speed. He was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the crash. A report was taken.

Oregon State Police

August 25, 3:01 a.m. – Single vehicle, injury accident, Interstate 84 eastbound near Biggs. Robert Wayne Lindstrom, 46, Eugene, was the involved driver. Lindstrom was heading east when he swerved to avoid hitting several deer in the roadway causing the vehicle to hit the median and shoulder barrier. Vehicle was driven to Biggs where driver called to report the accident. He was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the accident, a report was taken.

Fire

Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue

August 24, 6:56 p.m. – Personnel responded to the 1300 block of Bridge Street on a report of a smoke detector sounding. Nothing was showing upon arrival at the residence. Water flow was noticed from the bottom of the front door. Access was gained into the home and a substantial amount of water was flooding the basement. There was also a heavy smell of natural gas in the home. The utilities were shut off to the residence and the windows in the home were opened for ventilation.

August 25, 6:40 a.m. – Personnel responded to the 2600 block of West 2nd Street on a report of a smoke investigation. Caller reported smelling a heavy smell of smoke in the area. The area was checked and nothing was found, the haze and smell was most likely from the wildfire.

August 26, 4:52 p.m. – Personnel responded to West 6th and Irvine streets on a report of a vehicle fire. The vehicle was found with two occupants standing near it but nothing was seen from the vehicle. Driver advised smoke started coming through the fan vent and they powered the vehicle off immediately and the smoke stopped. The battery was disconnected and the vehicle was moved from the roadway.

Personnel responded to seven calls for emergency medical services on Friday, eight on Saturday, eight on Sunday and eight on Monday.

The Dalles City

An unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and theft reports were taken Friday morning from West 8th and Honey Do streets after a victim reported someone entered their vehicle and stole some items from within.

A first-degree burglary report was taken Friday morning from the 800 block of East 9th Street after a victim reported someone had entered her home within the last year and stole some items from a safe.

Police responded to the train tracks Friday evening on a report of subjects trespassing on the train. Subjects were taken off the train and cited for first-degree criminal trespass and released. A report was taken.

A second-degree criminal mischief report was taken Friday evening from the 2600 block of West 6th Street after a victim reported their vehicle was keyed.

Joseph Eric Flock, 36, Wishram, was arrested Friday evening during a traffic stop in the 800 block of Cascade Street on a Washington State warrant for being a fugitive of the state.

Jovana Marco, 49, 3830 West 8th St., was arrested Saturday morning in the 2600 block of West 6th Street and is accused of third-degree theft.

Kim Renee Juhnke, 51, Hood River, was arrested Saturday afternoon during a traffic stop in the 700 block of East 14th Street and is accused of unlawful possession of methamphetamines.

An informational report was taken Saturday evening from West 8th and Hostetler streets after a victim reported he was involved in an accident and he and the other subject exchanged information but the suspect driver was acting awkward. Victim took photos of suspect during the information exchange and it was determined the suspect was suspended. The incident is still under investigation.

Police responded to the 2300 block of East 12th Street Saturday evening after a victim reported several juvenile females were attempting to break into a church. Contact was made with four juvenile females who acknowledged they were looking through the windows but did not want to break in. They were counseled and told to move along.

A third-degree theft report was taken early Sunday morning from the 500 block of Mt. Hood Street after a victim reported someone bumped into him and he thinks they may have stolen his wallet. The incident is under investigation.

A second-degree criminal mischief report was taken early Sunday morning from the 200 block of Court Street after a victim reported someone smashed a window on their vehicle.

Juan Martin Perez Hammond, 22, 3215 West 7th St. Space B, was arrested early Sunday morning in the 1000 block of Pomona Street and is accused of two counts of probation violation.

Cory James Widner, 22, Mosier, was arrested early Sunday morning during a traffic stop in the 900 block of Irvine Street and is accused of driving while suspended.

A third-degree theft report was taken Sunday morning from the 800 block of East 11th Street after a victim reported someone took something from her home without permission.

Byron Lee Murphy, 23, 1204 East 17th Street, was arrested Sunday evening at the police station and is accused of two counts of domestic strangulation, harassment, and interference with making a report.

A theft report was taken Monday morning from the 600 block of West 10th Street.

An identity theft report was taken Monday afternoon from the 400 block of East Scenic Drive after a victim advised someone forged her signature on some paperwork that was turned in.

John D. Patton, 34, 1916 East 9th St., was arrested Monday evening in the 500 block of Mt. Hood Street and is accused of third-degree theft.

Wasco County

Steven Thomas Hadley, 56, Wamic, was arrested Friday morning during a traffic stop in Wamic and is accused of reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Justin Patrick Lane, 25, 5740 Highway 30 No. 5, was arrested Friday evening in his home on a circuit court warrant for first-degree failure to appear and probation violation.

John Richard West, 46, Sunnyside, Wash., was arrested early Saturday morning during a traffic stop in the 2500 block of West 6th Street and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

A burglary report was taken Saturday morning from the 900 block of Chenowith Loop Road after a victim reported someone entered her home overnight and took her purse.

Ryan Joseph Lake, 33, Eugene, was arrested early Sunday morning during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 eastbound at exit 97 and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Daniel James Marshall Jepson, 31, 3221 West 12th St., was arrested early Sunday morning during a traffic stop at West 6th and Trevitt streets and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

A found property report was taken Sunday morning in Wamic after a homeowner advised a weapon and some shoes were left on their front porch. Items were retrieved and taken to sheriff’s office for safe keeping.

Joshua Carl Olsen, 25, 2700 West 7th St. No. 72, was arrested early Monday morning in the 700 block of Snipes Street on a circuit court warrant for violation of post-prison supervision sanctions.

Oregon State Police

A male driver was cited for no operator’s license Saturday morning during a traffic stop on Interstate 84.

Tyler Jay Ostby, 32, Tualatin, was arrested Monday evening during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 eastbound, milepost 80 and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Gilliam County

Daniel Anthony Smythe, 37, Arlington, was arrested Friday afternoon in Arlington and is accused of second-degree criminal trespass.

Judith Ann Thrall, 53, Emmet, Idaho, was arrested Saturday evening during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 eastbound, milepost 128 and is accused of possession of a controlled substance.

Regional Jail

Nathaniel Adam Sheppard, 32, Twain Harte, Calif., was jailed Friday after turning himself in on an Oregon State Parole warrant for parole violation.

Willard Eugene Harmon Jr., 46, Prineville, was jailed Monday on a circuit court commitment for contempt of court.
