Ted Memorail Pool to host Sunday BBQ

— Free swimming for firefighters

To show gratitude to the men and women giving their time fighting the Government Flat Complex Fire, The North Wasco County Parks and Recreation District is offering free swimming during open hours at Ted Walker Memorial Pool.

Open swim hours go from 1-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-5 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Camp Morrow run on tap

The Camp Morrow 1k and 5k Run is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, starting at 9 a.m. at on the campgrounds in Wamic.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and costs are $15 without a shirt and $25 with a shirt on the day of the event.

Costs are set at $10 without a shirt as long as participants pre-register before Sept. 21.

If runners want a shirt, the cost is $20 on the pre-registration date.

Fees are $5 for the 1k run/walk with no shirt.

Free pool BBQ planned

The North Wasco county Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its annual free end-of-summer barbecue from 5-7 p.m. tonight at Ted Walker Memorial Pool in The Dalles.

Only the first 205 attendees can attend given the maximum capacity.

Along with the free swimming, food and drinks, DJ Elvis will play some music.
