To the editor:
Thank you, Salvation Army. For the last 10 years we have looked forward to Thanksgiving, when we were able to volunteer at the community Thanksgiving dinner. This year, because of the wife’s health issues and a date with the surgeon, we were unable to help out. All you volunteers and diners, we missed you.
We know what a tremendous effort goes into the dinner. Majors Kevin and Tammy Ray of the Salvation Army do an outstanding job, except there needs to be at least two more of each of them because there always seems to be a line of three or four volunteers waiting to get direction or assistance: chaos with a cause.
This year we made a simple phone call and volunteers delivered a hot, delicious turkey dinner right to our door. Chef Fus and your staff did an outstanding job. Thank you, volunteers. All your hard work paid off.
The people of the Columbia Gorge are lucky to have such caring people as the Salvation Army to sponsor the community dinner. You are an asset to our community and the people that live in this area.
