Local Oregon Women for Agriculture to start-up

Gorge women involved with agriculture, farming or food systems in the gorge are invited to mark their calendars for the start-up of a local chapter of Oregon Women for Agriculture (OWA).

OWA is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to telling the story of Oregon agriculture and is looking to expand its outreach work in the Columbia River Gorge.

Local OWA member Josie Miller of Northwest Farm Credit Services in The Dalles invites everyone to a meeting at her office at 3591 Klindt Drive, Suite 110 on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 5:30pm.

“As a group, we focus on agricultural education and awareness in our local communities and throughout the state,” Miller said. “Some projects we are a part of that people may recognize are crop identification signs and our partnership with Oregon Ag in the Classrooms literacy project. We also stay in tune with agricultural legislation, policy and technological improvements. One of our upcoming projects is the Women Food and Farm Conference being put on by Washington Extension services.”
