Hot shooting leads Dufur girls

Alexa Macias and Teneille McDonald combined for 35 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Dufur Rangers to a 57-39 victory over Columbia Christian Saturday afternoon in Dufur.

The Lady Rangers shot a robust 22 of 43 from the floor, and of those made baskets, 17 came on assists.

Dufur also put up a 35-17 rebounding edge, 12 of those coming on the offensive end, as every player on the roster pulled down a rebound.

Dufur made things work in the first frame with a 21-8 rally, but then Columbia Christian crept back into contention on a 12-11 output to make it a 32-20 halftime cushion.

Staked to the 12-point lead, the Rangers put the final nail in the coffin with an 18-5 run to swell the advantage out to 50-25.

Mandy Barbarick led her team with 17 points, as the team’s lone double-digit contributor.

Hannah Harris and Montana Ferres scored six points apiece, and Tianna Ellis rattled home four points.

Dufur (3-0 overall) played at Lyle tonight. At 6 p.m. Friday, the Rangers host Echo.
