Redsides doubled up by Perrydale

Offense was a premium Saturday, as South Wasco County hit only a handful of baskets in a 38-19 road loss in girl’s basketball action in Perrydale.

“We could not get anything going offensively,” said SWC head coach Ron Townsend. “We did not handle their physical defense very well. This was a game, which really showed us what we need to work on.”

The Pirates got off to a solid start with outputs of 12-4 and 10-5 to lead 22-9 at the break. Both teams struggled in the third frame, as the Pirates worked a 5-4 split to lead 27-13 entering the fourth quarter.

Perrydale’s Hannah Mitchell led all scorers with 18 points.

For the Redsides, Zoe Morelli scored five points, and teammates Molly Foreaker and Roxanne O’Neal notched four points apiece.

SWC (3-2 overall) is in Irrigon for a non-league tussle tonight.

At 2 p.m. Friday, the Redsides play Lost River for first-day play at the Culver Hoops Tournament.
