The 2A Irrigon Knights got a 25-point effort from Ashli Roberts, and added a long ball element to their game in a 61-34 win over South Wasco County in non-league girl’s basketball play Tuesday at Irrigon High School.
In their first quarter onslaught, the Knights kicked off this tussle with three consecutive 3-pointers on three possessions, as part of a 19-2 run.
Over the next three quarters, Irrigon was able to pad its lead using spurts of 12-9, 15-14 and 15-9 to come away with a 27-point win.
For the Redsides, Zoe Morelli led the way with 12 points, and Molly Foreaker tacked on a six-point effort.
Lisa McNamee totaled four points, and the trio of Kyra Shannon, Sonya Schmitz and Joy Kelly poured in three points each.
“We did not come ready to play tonight,” said SWC head coach Ron Townsend. “We have a lot of work ahead of us to get where we want to be.”
SWC (3-3 overall) heads out to the Culver Tournament for play against Lost River at 2 p.m. Friday.
Saturday, the Redsides play again.
