The Lost River Raiders used the second and third quarters for a 37-14 spurt to break open an 8-4 lead on their way to a 51-31 victory Friday in girl’s basketball action at the Culver Tournament.
With the score still close toward the end of the second frame, the Raiders landed the knockout blow with 10 consecutive points to lead 30-11 at the break.
Staked to a double-digit cushion, Lost River padded its lead in the third quarter with a 15-7 rally to make it 45-18 with one quarter left to play.
SWC ended the game on a 13-6 run to make the score closer.
Molly Foreaker paced the Redside offense with eight points, and the duo of Zoe Morelli and Kyra Shannon notched six points each.
“We let them have some easy hoops and did not respond,” said Redside coach Ron Townsend. “They also started the third quarter with consecutive threes. We were better than we were on Tuesday, but still have a long ways to go.”
SWC (3-4 overall) is in the midst of a three-game losing streak, and played Saturday. After that, the Lady Redsides hosts Irrigon at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.
