Pleasurable parenting topic of training series

— Learning new parenting skills can help enrich the lives of parents and their children.

The Next Door, Inc., is offering skills training in the series, “Make Parenting a Pleasure,” at Colonel Wright Elementary School in The Dalles. Classes run Thursdays, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., between Feb. 28 and May 23.

The classes are described as a “fun, family-oriented series for series for parents, grandparents, caregivers and their children from birth to age 8.

Participants will learn how to motivate their children, set limits, use positive approaches to discipline, teach conflict resolution, and prepare children for school success.

Those in attendance will also explore new parenting techniques while sharing their joys and challenges with other parents.

Cost of the program is $25 and help with the fee is available. Free family dinner and child care for ages 6 months to 11 years will be provided.

Children will enjoy music, story time, art projects, free play and learn school success skills.

Each adult who attends eight or more sessions will receive a $25 gift card and a certificate of completion.
