Oregon Select holding tryouts

The Oregon Select baseball program is holding its annual tryouts from 7-9 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 9, at The Yard Baseball Academy in Beaverton for interested players for the classifications ranging from 9U to 17U as well as the 12U Elite Cooperstown squad.

Birthdate is determined by your age on April 30, 2013. The tryout fee is set for $10.

Schedule consists of three or four highly competitive tournaments starting in March.

Valentine’s run

Signups are open for the 2013 Jumpstart Valentine’s Day River 3k, 5k and 10k run/walk scheduled for 10 a.m. this Saturday at The Dalles Marina.

Cost is $20 with a shirt and $10 without a shirt for all participants on the day of this event.

Awards will be given for the top-3 placers in each race division.

This a fundraiser for the Jumpstart Program.

Little League open for kids

The Dalles Little League program is still holding online signups for all local baseball players from the ages of 5-12 years for registration for the season.

Anyone with a birth date between May 1, 2000 and April 30, 2009 is encouraged to sign up.

Cost is $64 for the first child and $44 for each additional child.

T-Ball kids are $49.

There are specials in place for children in the same family.

This phase will remain open until March 14.

TD softball sets parent meeting

The Dalles Wahtonka softball team is announcing its softball parent meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11 at the TDW library.

Parents will be able to fill out all necessary paperwork and will receive a preliminary schedule for the 2013 campaign.

Adult hoops offering signups

The Gorge Adult Hoops League is looking for players and teams for the upcoming spring season.

All games are officiated by OSAA endorsed referees and games are played every Sunday at Wahtonka High School.

The next season starts on Sunday, March 17.

Free Throw contest open

The Dalles area Knights of Columbus of Council 1598 will host the semifinal rounds of their annual free throw contest at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Wy’east Middle School in Odell.

Participants should be present for this next round by 12:30 p.m.

Trophies are offered for the winners, ages 10-14, for both girls and boys.
