Wishram man runs amok in Goldendale

— Reported Feb. 27th, Goldendale Sentinel

Goldendale Police responded to a report of a man running around town and acting strangely, last week. The first call came around 11:43 a.m. when a man wearing a dark outfit entered the General Store and ran through the store towards the back of the building. It was reported that he sat down and looked around, then ran into a locked door before running back out the front of the building.

A second call came about a man in an area where he didn’t belong at the start of the Bickleton highway. Police arrived at the parking lot outside the Union 76 Station where the man vaulted the front end of a pick-up and headed across the road down Llama Lane. Police went to the Little Klickitat River to begin the search.

It was only minutes later that another report came of a man dancing in the middle of SR97. Police approached the man who they knew to be Allen Matai, of Wishram. A taser was used on Matai to subdue him and he was arrested for trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Matai had just been released from the Klickitat County jail moments before his running and dancing spree.
