Wyoming governor wants coal

The terminal is the largest of five proposed terminals in Washington and Oregon that would ship coal from Montana and Wyoming to power plants in Asia.

The Gillette News Record reports that Gov. Matt Mead sent a letter to the Corps on Tuesday saying that studies of the terminals shouldn’t be lumped together into one environmental analysis, as environmentalists have requested.

Mead said a broad study that looked only coal and things such as world-wide greenhouse gas emissions would dictate the study’s results. He said coal is one of many commodities that would pass through the terminals.

Even if the coal exports could be made through the gorge without mishap or blanketing us in coal dust what kink of insanity would it be to ship it to another country only to have it return to us in the atmosphere? Have you seen the smog in China? We are moving towards the elimination of coal fired plants in Oregon, it makes no sense to poison the air of others before it returns to poison us.

The whole idea of running coal trains and barges thru the Gorge is a HUGE mistake.

If the enviro-wackos and the Obama administration [EPA] were at all concerned about the security and economy of the United States, we could use our domestic coal for our own energy requirements and not ship it to Asia. Don't attack the coal producers, don't attack the Governor of Wyoming, attack the Obama administration. Coal shipments, domestic or overseas are American jobs and American dollars. The safety record of coal shipment from Wyoming and other coal producing states is excellent. Tell the enviro-wackos to pound sand.

"patriot", your use of the term "enviro-wackos" made me stop reading right there.
