Artists sought for Chalk the Block at Jammin’ July

Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to join in the first annual Chalk the Block event during this year’s Jammin’ July Street Festival.

Artists will be decorating the block between Second and Third streets onLaughlin streets.

Registration for the free event is open from 5 to 6 p.m. Space is limited, so be there on time to participate. Parents must be present with children under 12.

Artists ages 12 and older are eligible to participate in the open jurored chalk competition. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and People’s choice.

Drawing time ends at 8 p.m. to allow time for judging. Award presentation will follow.

Individuals, teams and children are welcome to expand their creative side with a medium everyone has played with.

Chalk will be provided to all who register, but everyone is welcome to bring extra. Other items that might come in handy include hats, sunscreen, kneepads, pillows, towels (or anything to sit on) and sunglasses.

Chalk is the only medium that will be used in the competition area. No pets, tobacco or alcohol will be allowed in the chalking area. Drawings should be community-appropriate.
