Performers join Walworth Foundation at Burgerville

— Burgerville will join with the Walworth Music Foundation for a fundraiser at the restaurant Tuesday, June 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Walworth Music Foundation was established in 2004 to help musically talented kindergarten through 12th grade students in the gorge obtain music lessons. The foundation typically supports six to 10 students each year.

As word of the foundation gets around, more students apply each year, making it difficult to offer a scholarship to every qualified applicant, wrote foundation president Lloyd Walworth. The Walworth Music Foundation is looking for lots of music lovers to dine at the local Burgerville to help raise enough scholarship funds for each hopeful young musician that applies.

As part of the June 4 event, four music groups are donating their talent. Entertaining at Burgerville are Eurotopia, a new Klezmer band in the gorge; Mark Reynolds and Unbroken Circle, an eclectic folk-rock-contemporary band; the Veteran Messengers of Jazz Trio with Rule Beasley on piano, Ron Falter on percussion and Dianna Lysgaard on bass; and Don and Sandy Peterson with Varietal Favorites.

“These are some of the best musicians in the gorge, playing it forward for our young people,” said Walworth. “We are fortunate to have such a rich and generous mix of music and musicians helping us with our partnership.”
