Collection under way for fire victims

— Clothing for the children of Jose and Kate Alvarez, who lost everything in a house fire on West Eighth Street early Sunday morning, is now being collected in the main office at Colonel Wright Elementary School, 610 W. 14th St., or The Dalles Wahtonka High School, 220 E. 10th St. Greg Bigelow, principal at Colonel Wright, is organizing the clothing drive for the family and said these sizes are needed:

• A 5-year-old girl starting kindergarten this fall wears a six 6x top and bottom, and a size 13 toddler shoe.

• The girl entering fourth grade next year wears size 14-16 in both tops and bottoms.

• A boy who will be in sixth grade next year wears clothing size 14-15 shirts and slacks, and size 8 in men’s shoes.

• The upcoming sophomore girl needs extra-large tops and size 15 pants, and a size 10 in women’s shoes.

One of the Fourth Sunday at the Fort acts was incorrectly named in the June 11 paper. Tom Graff performs July 28 at Fort Dalles Museum.
