Sherman County Historical museum marks a milestone this Saturday, June 22, at its annual meeting themed Making of a Museum: Celebrating 30 Years.
The Sherman County Historical Society opened its national-award-winning museum 30 years ago to further its mission to serve as a repository for artifacts and records and to provide a continuing and interesting experience for coming generations.
All members, volunteers and friends are invited to gather for a social hour in the museum from 5 to 6 p.m. and for a no-host dinner, brief business meeting and a program next door at the Sherman County Senior and Community Center.
Earlier in the day visitors may tour the museum with a docent and enjoy special displays sharing some memories of the past 30 years.
Visitors coming from a distance might want to check the Sherman County website for local accommodations http://www.co.sherman.or.us/agri_business.asp, listed by town.
To reserve a no-host meal, call the museum at 541-565-3232.
