Hood River Garden Tour set for June 29

Bees, Blossoms and Scarecrows is the theme of this year’s garden tour Saturday, June 29, in Hood River from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Central Gorge Master Gardener Association is presenting this year’s tour of seven gardens that are owned, designed and maintained by Master Gardeners in the Central Gorge.

All are located in the Hood River area. The tour encompasses a 20-mile loop with uphill and downhillstretches ideal for a bicycle ride. There is a short stretch off of Reed Road that is a gravel surface.

Tour sites include:

Dennis and Mary Carlson 3801 Barrett Drive

Ann and Dave Bronson 678 Larch Court, located off of Post Canyon Drive

Ketrina and Jeff Jerome 2661 Reed Road

Dede and John Garcia 225 Montello Ave

John and Shirley 3657 Holly Drive

Laurel and Bob DeTar 2116 Eugene Street

Alan and Betty Lou Yenne 4631 Portland Drive

Maps will come with each ticket purchased. Tickets are available from: Waucoma Bookstore, Grow Organics, Good News Gardening, Columbia Center for the Arts, Hood River Extension, The Dalles Extension, Klindt’s Bookstore in The Dalles and Dickey Farms in Bingen

Each garden will have a scarecrow displayed for purchase to raise money for the local food bank.
