Letter to the Editor: Another charge

— To the editor:

I have been out of the retail business more years than I care to remember. However, this latest assessment of $250 on the merchants to increase business has me puzzled.

Isn’t that why they pay membership dues to the Chamber of Commerce? Someone has dropped the ball!

the ball is dropped they think that if they bleed the downtown biz of money it will bring in more people to the dalles, i'm not sue how other downtowns made though recensions but spending more money from regular peoples pockets that are alrady broke trying to float along making hardly enough sells anyways, no this idea wont work that guys is gonna make 40k a year then walk away laughing at the smart ones who asid if we give this guy money to promote our downtown it will be revived rather than the city counsel actully VOLUNTEERING time. like the rest of the awesome locals who want to see this town make it! dont pay someone money to maybe make it work get out there and support community functions and post about them on facebook or whatever get people aware of functions there isnt nearly enough "promotion" for hardly anything local other than church stuff
