The Dalles Fond memory
To the editor:
Friday, March 1, I had the privilege to participate in Read Across America. I was assigned Chenowith Elementary School teacher Cindy Kamimae.
What a wonderful experience! I couldn’t believe these kids were second graders. They were so polite and poised. I really enjoyed reading the Dr. Seuss books and our discussion afterwards.
A few days later in the mail I received the most amazing gift. The teacher wrote a thank you note and the kids did incredible artwork on a large poster, wrote little notes and signed it. It was one of the best gifts ever. It’s hanging on my living room wall and every time I look at it I smile.
Thank you Cindy Kamimae and the kids from Room 5.
If you have been thinking about participating in Read Across America but haven’t, do so. I plan on being back next year.
