Meals on wheels campaigns March 20

Senior support

The Dalles Meals on Wheels will participate in the national 2013 March for Meals campaign tomorrow to raise public awareness about the need to support the program that feeds homebound seniors within the community.

Toward that effort, Meals on Wheels has invited local elected officials to deliver meals Thursday to the homes of senior citizens. Participating officials include Wasco County Commissioners Scott Hege, Rod Runyon and Steve Kramer, as well as City Councilors Carolyn Wood, Tim McGlothlin and Linda Miller.

Community members are invited to join a march around the Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W. 9th St., at 11:15 a.m. Thursday and then have lunch inside.

The local Meals on Wheels program has served more than 45,000 meals to clients since the 1970s.

Donations to support the program can be sent to P.O. Box 689, The Dalles, Ore. 97058.
