Oregon fugitive found in Mexico, returned to US

PORTLAND (AP) — U.S. marshals say a former Oregon teacher who fled after a federal jury found him guilty of possessing child pornography is back in the United States after being deported from Mexico.

Eric Wahlstrom is the supervisory deputy U.S. marshal in Oregon. He says Logan Storm initially told Mexican officials he was someone else when they arrested him on March 12 in Mexico City. Wahlstrom says authorities sent documents and photographs to a Mexican court, which determined that the man was Storm and authorized the deportation.

The Oregonian reports Storm was being held Thursday in Houston. Wahlstrom says the plan is to bring him back to Oregon.

The former Beaverton math teacher vanished in late January, just hours after the jury verdict.

A federal judge issued a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear at a hearing scheduled for Jan. 30.
