Wildflower photos sought for gorge photo contest

Professional and amateur photographers are invited to submit their finest scenic, close-up and artistic renderings of wildflowers from the Columbia River Gorge area.

A collection of 40 entries will be selected to be displayed at Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River for the July 2013 show titled, “The Earth Laughs in Flowers.”

Three finalists will be unveiled at the Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River on Friday, July 5, during the First Friday Art Opening.

Deadline for entries is Tuesday, May 27. Entry fee for the first five images is $25. The entire fee goes to support the nonprofit Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River.

Prizes include gift cards from Pro Photo Supply of $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for third place.

The boundary area is between Troutdale/Camas to the west and Biggs/Maryhill to the east, south to Mount Hood and north to Mt. Adams. The 40 finalists will be responsible for delivering fully framed pieces suitable for Gallery display. Framed pieces may not exceed 24 x 32 inches and must be delivered to the gallery Tuesday, July 2, at 10 a.m.

Entry submissions must be digital only in JPEG format. Watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices must be removed prior to submission. Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. (PST) on May 28.

Employees or contractors of Pro Photo Supply are not eligible.
