Wilcox wins distinguished service award

JIM WILCOX holds the 2013 Distinguished Service Award given him by the Oregon Association of Realtors.

SALEM — Members of the Oregon Association of Realtors have honored local Realtor and community leader Jim Wilcox with a 2013 Distinguished Service Award.

The award, one of the highest granted by the association, was bestowed April 18 in Salem at the 2013 Spring governance meetings for the Oregon Association of Realtors, a professional organization representing more than 12,000 members statewide.

Wilcox is a Principal Broker with Columbia River Properties in The Dalles. He has been practicing real estate for more than 25 years, and has earned the CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designation.

He has been heavily involved in all levels of the Realtor organization at local, state and national levels. Serving on a wide variety of committees, he has also held leadership positions in the Association. His service has been honored before. He was also selected as Realtor of the Year for the Mid-Columbia Association of Realtors in both 1992 and 2002.

When he’s not selling real estate or giving back to his industry, he contributes to several civic and charitable organizations in the community. Most recently, he served as mayor of The Dalles from 2009 to 2012.

Wilcox was selected for a Distinguished Service Award by a committee of his peers based on lifetime contributions and service to the Oregon Association of Realtors, part of the Realtor organization, which is the largest trade organization in America, with over 1.1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
