TDW softball loses by 5-3 score

Through 3 2/3 innings, it looked like The Dalles Wahtonka was about to steal a critical Columbia River Conference road win against No. 10 Hermiston.

The Lady Bulldogs had other plans, however.

Hermiston got a home run from Abi Drotzmann, as it scored a single run in the fourth inning, added three in the fifth and tacked on another run late to pull out a 5-3 softball comeback win Friday in Hermiston.

With two games left, TDW (11-12 overall, 2-8 league) hosts No. 1 Pendleton (20-4, 9-1) Tuesday, and then caps the regular season on the road at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Hood River (13-8, 3-7).

Still with a No. 13 rank, the Eagle Indians need to stay within the top-15 to host a state playoff contest in the last half of May.
