Mid-Columbia Fire &


May 14, 11:52 a.m. – Personnel responded to the 3400 block of West 8th Street on a report of a burn complaint. Caller reported a neighbor was possibly setting ground trees on fire. Upon arrival, a small attended burn pile was found with a water source. The property owner had a permit and no problem was found.

May 14, 5:48 p.m. – Personnel responded to the 3600 block of Fifteenmile Road on a report of a grass fire. The fire was initially reported as a half-acre fire but upon arrival it had spread to five acres. The fire was knocked down and mopped up with assistance of several area fire agencies.

May 14, 8:45 p.m. – Personnel responded to Highway 30 at the Chenowith Bridge on a report of smoke coming from under the bridge. Contact was made with a transient who advised he started a small fire to repel mosquitos. He had extinguished the fire prior to arrival; no problem was found.

Personnel also responded to seven calls for emergency medical services.

Police Reports

The Dalles City

Michael Shawn Olson, 35, 5885 Highway 30 West, was arrested Tuesday morning in circuit court and is accused of contempt of court.

An identity theft report was taken Tuesday afternoon from the 900 block of Richmond Street after a victim reported their debit card was being used without permission.

An informational report was taken Tuesday evening from the 2300 block of West 10th Street after a caller advised a deer was struck by a vehicle and was still alive. Officers dispatched the deer and removed from the road.

Charles Thomas Smith, 21, 901 W. 11th St., was arrested Tuesday evening and is accused of second-degree assault. He was also arrested on two Washington state warrants.

Corey Trey Thomas, 19, Lyle, was arrested Tuesday evening in the 500 block of Mt. Hood Street and is accused of third-degree theft.

An informational report was taken Tuesday evening from the 800 block of Richland Court after a mother reported her juvenile son was assaulted by another kid in the area. Contact was made by all subjects involved. A knife was seized that was involved in the incident. Report will be forwarded to the juvenile department for review of charges against the suspect.

Wasco County

Jimmy Lee Cain, 20, 3817 West 10th St. No. 43, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and is accused of probation violation.

An agency assist report was taken Tuesday afternoon from the 500 block of Mt. Hood Street after deputy assisted state police in arresting a subject.

Deputy responded to the Cherry Heights view point Tuesday evening after a caller reported a dead animal was left in a garbage bin. The bin was located and what appeared to be a deceased dog was inside. The carcass was disposed of and the bin was returned to the garbage company.

Deputy responded to the 2700 block of West 7th Street early Wednesday morning on a report of a domestic dispute. Caller advised a male subject was yelling at a female subject who was screaming. Travis Michael Collins, 22, 2700 West 7th St. No. 6, was arrested and is accused of fourth-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, violation of a restraining order, and violation of a release agreement.

Oregon State Police

Robert Connolly, 62, White Salmon, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of Mt. Hood Street and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants and possession of a controlled substance.

Sherman County

Blain Roger Poirier, 43, Wasco, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in his home on two Sherman County warrants for contempt of court.

Regional Jail

Denise Lynn Foss, 50, 1121 West 2nd St., was booked and released on a municipal court commitment for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Parole and Probation

William Lionel Neary IV, 22, Maupin, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the community corrections office on three circuit court warrants for probation violation.
