Teen shooting injury appears self-inflicted

A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition at Oregon Health and Science University today where he is undergoing treatment after an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police responded to a reported gunshot wound in the early morning hours today, May 15, at the 1800 block of East 10th Street, The Dalles City Police report. Officers found Brandon Kimball with a single gunshot wound to the head. A small-caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.

The shooting occured at the home of the victim’s grandparents.

Kimball was transported via ambulance to Mid-Columbia Medical Center and later flown by LifeFlight to OHSU in Portland.

Kimball is the son of Raymond Kimball and Amy Kimball and a student at The Dalles Wahtonka High School.
