In a pair of 14U Babe Ruth baseball matchups this week, East Cascade Electric salvaged a split of two games with a 30-9 romp Tuesday versus Goldendale and a 18-6 loss to Pepsi on Thursday.
Against Goldendale, ECE scored eight runs in the first inning and added 15 in the second frame to jump out in front by a 23-0 margin.
Brody Woods paced the offense with a 3 for 3 effort with two runs, four RBIs and three walks.
Blake Davis tacked on two hits, four runs and four RBIs and Tazman Moffett added three hits, four runs and three RBIs for ECE, which slugged out 18 hits and received 13 walks. Bradley Mow went 3 for 6 with four runs and five RBIs, and Preston Klindt notched two hits, two runs and two RBIs.
Jacob Wetmore tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts to pick up the win.
On Thursday, Storm Douthit drove in four runs and Denzel Arrellano walked and scored three times to lead Pepsi to a lopsided 18-6 rout of ECE.
With Pepsi leading 8-5 through three frames, they finished things with five in the fifth and sixth innings to produce the final margin.
Tyler Westin and Aaron Maney had two hits apiece, and both Westin and tanner Herriges scored four runs.
Herriges last three innings and he allowed five runs on five hits with four strikeouts to notch the win.
After Herriges left in the third, Westin shut down ECE with three innings of two-hit ball with four strikeouts.
Davis had a hit and two RBIs for ECE and Moe kicked in two hits for their seven in the game.
Skyler Moffett, William Justesen and Wetmore also had hits.
Wetmore scored twice and Bailey Ortega went 0 for 2 with two walks, a run scored and three hit batsmen.
ECE plays again at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Goldendale. Pepsi hits the diamond at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Quinton Street Ballpark for a matchup versus Spooky’s Pizza.
