Support workers award two student scholarships

North Wasco Education Support Professionals awarded scholarships to Mikaela Hernandez and Grant Pearson of The Dalles Wahtonka High School awards night in May.

Each student will receive $500 toward college expenses.

Mikaela Hernandez has been active on two swim teams and volunteers for Special Olympics swimming as well. She plans to enter the medical field and will begin her college education at Oregon State University in the fall. She is the daughter of Rafael and Diana Hernandez of The Dalles.

Grant Pearson, active in both cross country and track and field, has managed to maintain a 3.98 GPA while taking honors and advanced placement course at The Dalles Wahtonka High School He plans to attend Oregon State University and begin training for the field of engineering. He is the son of Anton and Rebecca Pearson.

North Wasco Education Support Professionals is the School District 21 employee union made up of staff who work as custodians, in transportation, in food services, as secretaries, in the classroom assisting students, in the district office managing programs, and in other behind-the-scenes jobs in the school district.
