Arlington Walapalooza set Saturday, June 1

— The Arlington Community Chamber of Commerce Fishing Derby and Spring Walapalooza will be Saturday, June 1.

This annual event is specifically with the kids and community in mind. Coinciding with the Statewide Free Fishing Weekend, win prizes and enjoy a wonderful day of fishing and family fun on the river. The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and concludes with a catered lunch and entertainment at midday in Earl Snell Park.

Registration is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Earl Snell Park parking lot and the cost is $3 per fisherman. The first 100 participants will receive a goodie bag. Weigh-in will start at 11:30 a.m. and finishes at 12:15 p.m. in the Earl Snell Park parking lot. Prizes for the biggest fish will be awarded in five age groups: 4 years and under, 5-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-17 years and adult. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult and all Oregon Fishing Regulations apply.

A new addition to this year’s Spring Walapalooza is the Blue Mountain Old Time Fiddlers, they’ll play from noon through 2 p.m. at the gazebo in Earl Snell Park for everyone’s enjoyment. The entire community and all participants are invited to a free lunch catered by the Round-Up Grill, served in the Earl Snell Park starting at noon Saturday.

A Kids Casting competition will be at 12:30 p.m. with prizes for the winners. There is also a Tug of War contest with four-man teams against teams, lots of action and fun, beginning at 12:45 p.m., registration is free and prizes will be awarded.
