The Dalles To the editor:
Many of us in the Columbia River Gorge region believed that while the crazy shutdown politics of Washington D.C. played out, our own representative Greg Walden, having come from an environment of regional cooperation and partnership, would in fact reach above partisan diatribe and do what was good for the country in the long run. Apparently not.
Representative Greg Walden District 59 voted not to restore our government as the world watched in anticipation that we might default on paying our bills as already approved. What could have possibly been the justification other than his own political reputation within a very conservative republican segment?
Greg is an intelligent man and most probably did at one time have the “greater good” in mind when making decisions for folks at all socioeconomic levels, but this time has passed.
Adios my friend.
