Temperatures at The Dalles airport averaged colder than normal during October, according to preliminary data received by NOAA’s National Weather Service in Pendleton.
The average temperature was 52 degrees, 2.6 degrees below normal. High temperatures averaged 66 degrees, 0.8 degrees below normal. The highest was 75 degrees on Oct. 21. Low temperatures averaged 38.1 degrees, 4.3 degrees below normal. The lowest was 26 degrees, Oct. 29.
Temperatures fell below 32 degrees on two days of the month.
Precipitation totaled 0.40 inches during October, which was 0.61 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation — at least .01 inch — was received on three days with the heaviest, 0.29 inches reported Oct. 1.
The highest wind gust was 39 miles per hour on Oct. 27.
The outlook for November from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center calls for near to below normal temperatures and near normal precipitation. Normal highs for The Dalles airport fall from 58 degrees at the start of November to 45 degrees at the end of November. Normal lows fall from 39 degrees to 33 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 2.24 inches.
