Tygh Valley To the editor:
Veterans Day will soon be here. I would like to remind everyone to not only thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice, but also the families for their sacrifices, as well.
Our veterans have served our country and given so much of themselves for each and every one of us. A lot of people forget that their families also make sacrifices to stand by their soldiers.
My father was in the U.S. Marines for many years. He was shipped overseas many times, including once to Vietnam.
As a child of a soldier, it was the worst time in my life. Imagine being in the sixth grade and hoping and praying that your daddy is safe. I was one of the lucky ones. My daddy came home safe. A lot of other children were not so lucky.
As with most military families, my father is “my hero” and always will be. I am very thankful for all veterans and their families. I salute each and every one and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
